dinner with alien ant farm...whuda thunk...
So you might be wondering why the "Alien Ant Farm" logo is the header for this post. Well, let me tell ya. I got the chance to go to dinner last night with one of my very best friends in the whole world. My friend Emily Klingensmith (formerly known as Em Frazier...among other things...haha) was in So Cal for Memorial Day weekend festivities. I happened to hear that and called her up to arrange some fun times. We met last night in San Clemente at the Fisherman's Bar and Grill on the beach. Emily told me that there were going to be a few people there that were friends of she and her husband from Sacramento. She failed to mention, though, that I would be dining with someone famous (that may be a little bit of a stretch...haha). So I walk in and greet everyone...some of the coolest people I've met in a long time by the way...and then began to chat it up with Vincent. Vincent was ready for me...he had a line for everything...like when he asked me if I rememebered the time we ate strawberry shortcake in the 6th grade. It's a really long story. You kinda had to be there. Anyway, he was hilarious! Stinkin funny, and Vincent, combined with Rebekah, Victor, and Emily and John made for a really memorable night. Emily and I got some time by ourselves to just talk and re-connect. That rocked. She helps me. I miss that...need more people like her in my life...people who are other-centered and so deeply caring.
So back to Alien Ant Farm. As the night went on...and as Vincent and I chatted it up...eventually Emily mentions to me that Vincent used to be the lead guitar player for Alien Ant Farm!! He toured on their last world tour, and then he left the band like a year ago to be with another band...Action Heros. Whuda thunk?! We talked about the tour, the band, their cover of "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson. Remember that from a couple of years ago? I did. It was just cool to be there. Good adult time...something else I could use more of in my life.
So good times. Today was spent by the pool. Sun, Sun, Sun. It was overcast when I woke up, so I went back to bed, then got up and worked on the blog a little. I'm trying to post it on my website...but haven't figured out how to do that. Also wanted to do some other color changes. Never happened though. Oh well. It was a lazy day full of sleep, reading, and sun. A good one...and honestly...one that as the day went on...I was kinda thinking I deserved. It was good. No guilties for not being at work...unusual for me.
Well, that's it for now. I'm at Barnes and Noble now and getting ready to go to see Star Wars. Haven't been to a movie by myself for years...anonymity is kinda cool sometimes...helps you do things you might not otherwise do. That's it for now...more to come...
