Snow Snow Snow!!!
It's seriously cold here tonight! WOW! OK, so I have been outside for a total of about 43 seconds today, but that was enough. I walked over to the office, grabbed my stuff, and came back home. I have been "working" at home all day. We're supposed to get maybe another 6 or so inches of snow tonight to bring it up to about 9 inches. We'll see. It's comin down pretty hard right now.
I finally got my tree up, and I have put up some other christmas decorations. It's finally feeling like the season for me. My brother's family arrived today, and I guess the family festivities will start tomorrow. So for today I decided to enjoy some quiet time to relax, read, and clean. So now my house is clean, the tree is lit, the gifts are bought, and I am about as lazy as I think I can get tonight. It doesn't get much better than this. Tonight I have watched two movies, eaten everything in sight, and laid around on the couch. I was looking at the calendar a few minutes ago. I am so stoked about the next 10 or so days. Lots of friends, fam, and rest. I will be "working" at home a lot over these days. It's gonna be a good Christmas season.

To The City...
Well, I didnt exactly get to post two days in a row, like I said I was going to...what can I say? I finally get a chance tomorrow to do some Christmas shopping. I am headed to St Louis tomorrow afternoon to spend the day with the rest of the procrastinators trying to find some last minute deals. It doesn't even feel like Christmas to me yet. Maybe that's because I haven't put up a tree or anything yet. That's Monday night's activity. Anyway, I'm spending the night in St. Louis and gonna make sure I have all the shopping done before I head back to the Vern on Monday. I'm really looking forward to getting away for a day. I dont know if anyone else is like this, but I really prefer shopping by myself, so I am also looking forward to that. I have a long list, and not much money. Ha ha. That ought to be interesting!
Today I spent the day at work planning for the coming year. I am so excited because I finally get to hire a secretary. I have done some interviewing, and I think I have settled on someone who I think is going to be such a great part of the team. I fully anticipate this to be a great growing experience for me. Supervising, delegating, etc...I'm just really so glad that I am finally getting some more help. I am the worst at utilizing volunteers. I havent been able to figure out what that is all about...I'm sure it's nothing good...probably something to do with my control issues...so anyway I am hoping that maybe with this person in a paid position I wont feel so hesitant to delegate and lean on her a little.
Well, that's all the exciting news around here for now. I'm ready for a good Christmas Sunday tomorrow. I kidna enjoy it. Christmas songs at Encounter tomorrow!!! Can't wait!

WOW! What a week! It feels like forever since I have posted anything on here. And I guess that feeling is appropriate...since I haven't posted anything on here forever! I dont know if my life has every been busier than it is right now. (Even as I say that sentence to myself I realize that I think I have said it about 20 other times in the recent past! Ha ha. Oh well.) So I guess I just haevnt made it a priority to be on here. Ever since the National Youth Workers Convention, I've kinda been outta the blogging loop. Well, tonight, it's time to get back in the saddle.
So let's see...what's been going on? Well, probably the most significant thing is that I have decided to go back to grad school. I have enrolled in the MA program in Leadership Studies at Hope International University in Fullerton, CA.
I'm still trying to figure out how this happend. Ha ha. No, really. I just decided one day that I wanted to go. I mean, I had been thinking about it for a little bit. I knew that I wanted to continue my education, I just didn't know where or what in. Well, one day I sat down and started surfing. Actually, I was helping one of the students at church research some schools for his undergrad work, and I came across Hope. I was excited about it from the second that I started looking at it. The program I am going into is a distance learning program that will require me to be on campus, in Southern California, 16 days/year. I think that might have had something to do with my excitement. Ha ha. But the thing that really caught my attention was the structure of the course work, some of the professors, and the flexibility of the program.
So anyway, to make my really long story short, I asked the church peeps about it...got the OK...sent in lots and lots of paperwork...sent in more paperwork...and finally I am enrolled. Good stuff. I'll be in CA from Jan. 5-15th. Can't wait. I started ordering my books the other day too. I think it's going to be a really challenging experience for me....professionally (balancing it all) and personally (growing in Biblical knowledge, etc). I love a good challenge!!
So there has been some other cool stuff happening too, but I think I will save it for tomorrow's post. Yes, thats right...I intend to post two days in a row. See ya on the flip side!
